Are you the green hero around your office? Or would you like to be?
Most workplaces could benefit from a few green tips, whether it’s more recycling, switching Styrofoam cups for reusable mugs or scoring a day off for carpooling. But sometimes worker bees and bosses alike just need a little inspiration (after all, no one really wants to screw the environment). That’s why the folks over at Small Business Trends have launched a contest:

This organic mom has too much to read – newspaper and magazine articles, blogs, books, studies, listservs, emails etc. etc. etc. – and far too little time on her hands to read it all. But now that the organic preschooler is ensconced in school during the mornings, and my next manuscript is (basically) done, I’m taking a moment to do some reading to go with my writing.
We shape our buildings; thereafter they shape us. Winston Churchill could have been talking about green buildings when he said that, since the built environment gives shape to much of modern life — and to our planet.
But what is it that turns an ordinary building into a green, sustainable, healthy place to live and work? Architects, engineers and builders are constantly developing new materials and processes to design better, smarter buildings, but these seven hallmarks of green buildings seem to remain constant.
